Weija-Gbawe MP urges urgent action on flooding in Accra

Jerry Ahmed Shaib, the MP for Weija-Gbawe, has raised concerns about flooding. This issue affects his constituency and the Greater Accra Region.

In Parliament, he spoke about the severe impact of flooding on residents. He blamed poor drainage systems for this ongoing problem.

Shaib noted that flooding is now an annual crisis in the region. He stressed that current measures are not enough to solve it.

He warned that persistent flooding endangers public safety and economic stability. The MP urged lawmakers to take immediate action to address this issue.

Comfort Doyoo Ghansah, the MP for Ada Constituency, supported Shaib's concerns. She expressed frustration over the lack of sustained efforts to prevent flooding.

Ghansah mentioned that solutions could have been implemented earlier with proper attention. She compared Ghana’s situation to the Netherlands, which has successfully managed its water bodies.

Both MPs called for urgent efforts to tackle the flooding crisis. They highlighted the need for better drainage infrastructure and proactive urban planning.

They hope Parliament will prioritize sustainable solutions to protect communities from flooding.
