Residents of the Weija-Gbawe Constituency in Greater Accra are frustrated. They have called on the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), GRIDCo, and the Ministry of Energy to act. The area has faced persistent power outages for several months.
In an official statement, residents expressed their concerns. The repeated power cuts disrupt daily life and livelihoods. Outages happen without notice from ECG or GRIDCo. This causes significant issues for households, healthcare facilities, schools, and businesses.
The consequences are severe. Economic activity is hindered, lives are endangered, and essential services are affected. Some communities have experienced outages lasting over four days.
Despite discussions with ECG officials, no improvements have been made. Residents continue to face an unreliable power supply despite GRIDCo's assurances.
The statement concluded with a direct appeal to authorities. Residents urge them to take swift action to resolve the issue permanently. “We deserve better,” they said in their call for help from ECG, GRIDCo, and the Ministry of Energy.
