Western North Minister pledges to fight galamsey without fear or favour

The Western North Regional Minister, Wilbert Petty Brentum, has issued a warning. He is targeting those involved in illegal mining. This includes activities in forest reserves and water bodies. He insists the fight against "galamsey" will be impartial.

Mr. Brentum explained that the Regional Security Council is taking action. They have launched a strong campaign against illegal mining. Plans are in place to intensify these efforts soon.

He also highlighted that tackling illegal logging is a priority. Protecting the environment remains crucial for the region.

“As a country, we recognize mining is essential,” he stated. “However, we have laws against mining in forest reserves and water bodies.”

He delivered a direct message to offenders: “We will come after you.” He warned that no favoritism would be shown. “If you are my friend or family member involved, don’t ask me for help.”
