Western North Police launch operation to arrest unlicensed and reckless tricycle riders

The Western North Regional Police Command has started a strong operation. This aims to reduce road crashes caused by reckless motorcycle and tricycle use.

The operation began on May 28, 2025, in Sefwi Wiawso Municipality. It is led by DCOP Dr. Francis Kwame Tsidi.

The initiative targets unregistered tricycles and unlicensed riders. It also focuses on individuals engaging in dangerous road behavior.

Many offenders were arrested during this operation. They were taken to the District Magistrate Court, overseen by His Worship Eric Baah Boateng.

After admitting their charges, offenders received seven days in prison with hard labor. They also faced fines, with those unable to pay serving an extra 90 days in jail.

The police aim to reduce avoidable accidents from lawless riding practices. They hope harsh penalties will deter other riders from breaking traffic laws.

The Regional Command promises to continue these enforcement drives. This is to ensure road safety and compliance with traffic regulations across the region.
