What Bawumia and his economic management team couldn’t do, Ato Forson has done – Osman Ayariga

Osman Ayariga, the Acting CEO of the National Youth Authority, criticized former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He mocked Bawumia and his economic management team for their failures.

Ayariga pointed out that Finance Minister Ato Forson achieved what Bawumia could not in just five months. His comments followed the recent appreciation of the Cedi against major currencies, especially the dollar.

Speaking on GHONE TV, Ayariga said, “Bawumia should apologize for failing to manage our currency.” He added that Forson accomplished what a seven-member committee could not do.

Ayariga questioned Bawumia's sincerity. He asked where Bawumia's remorse was when the economy was struggling.

He stated, “Ghanaians are aware and won’t fall for this staged humility.” He described Bawumia as a "con artist" trying to deceive people into believing he has changed.

Ayariga suggested that if Bawumia were truly sorry, he would congratulate Forson and President John Mahama instead of claiming sole credit.

In response, Dr. Bawumia claimed the NDC cannot identify any policy responsible for the Cedi's appreciation. He dismissed suggestions that they deserve credit for recent gains.

During an event in London with the Young Executive Forum (YEF), he said, “The NDC cannot point to one implemented policy causing this change.”

Bawumia noted that since passing their budget in March, they have not issued contracts or made payments. Therefore, he argued that no NDC policy has impacted the currency’s performance yet.
