What Kufour told Bawumia after 2024 heavy defeat

Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia is the flagbearer for the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the 2024 election. He believes unity is essential to rebuild the party after its defeat.

He has received advice from former President John Agyekum Kufuor. Kufuor has been a strong support following the electoral loss.

On April 2, 2025, he spoke to the Minority in Parliament. He recalled Kufuor's words about starting over after a defeat.

Kufuor had faced a similar situation in 1996 with only 39% of votes. With unity and hard work, he achieved over 50% in four years.

Bawumia thanked the Legislators for their efforts and expressed pride in them. He compared them to the Minority of the second Parliament led by J.H Mensah.

He referred to them as "The Mighty Minority of 88 Infantry Battalion," commanded by Hon. Alexander Kwamena Afenyo Markin.
