The Attorney General (AG) is outraged by allegations against National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) officers. They are accused of stealing GH₵10,000 during a search at Dr. Ernest Addison's home.
The AG called the claim an "insult." He stated that the search was lawful and conducted with a valid warrant.
He criticized Minority Leader Alexander Afenyo-Markin for trying to undermine law enforcement. The AG said, "There are limits to what you can do regarding searches."
He added that they obtained warrants for the search. He offered to provide these warrants to the media if needed.
The AG clarified that there was no illegal raid on Dr. Addison's house. He described the operation as a constitutionally sanctioned search.
His anger follows accusations from the Minority in Parliament. They claimed that National Security operatives stole money and jewellery during the search.
Afenyo-Markin condemned these alleged actions as lawless targeting of former officials.
Dr. Ayine warned Afenyo-Markin against maligning law enforcement officers. He mentioned having a recording of Dr. Addison discussing the incident.
The AG reaffirmed his commitment to legal ethics and proper conduct by agencies like EOCO and National Security.
He also cautioned against misusing parliamentary immunity for defaming public officials.
