“What are we thanking Ghanaians for? For not voting for us, or what?” – NPP bigwig quizzes

Kwadwo Mpiani, a former Chief of Staff under President John Kufuor, has questioned the New Patriotic Party (NPP) about their ongoing 'thank you tour.'

He asked, "What are they thanking Ghanaians for? For not voting for them?" He believes the NPP's tour is a misplaced priority.

Speaking on JOYNEWS on April 29, Mpiani said, “The whole exercise is misplaced. What are we going to thank them for?” He emphasized that this is not the right time for such an initiative.

He pointed out that the party performed poorly in the recent election. A committee was set up to investigate what went wrong.

Mpiani stated that understanding these issues should come before thanking people. The focus should be on identifying problems and taking decisive action.

The tour follows a report by Prof Mike Oquaye’s 12-member committee investigating the party's electoral loss.

Meanwhile, Boakye Kyerematen Agyarko, a former presidential hopeful of the NPP, advised the party to halt its 'Thank You Tour.' He warned that ignoring his advice could further divide the party.

Agyarko described the tour as intended to unite but now causing discord and blame-shifting. He expressed concern over events during the tour threatening the party’s future.

He stated that these developments could damage goodwill with Ghanaians. Agyarko called on party leadership to act quickly and reassess their approach.

“It’s time to apply brakes and avoid an imminent collision course,” he urged. He stressed the need to uphold unity and dignity within the party tradition.
