Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi, is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He recently spoke out after a surprising incident at his home. Over 20 officials from the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) arrived unannounced.
Wontumi claims they ransacked his house without a warrant. He called the police number on an invitation letter for clarification. The person he spoke to, Isaac Offei, said the police knew nothing about it. Wontumi questioned what crime he had committed.
He had received a formal invitation from the Criminal Investigations Department (CID). This invitation was signed by DCOP Lydia Donkor. Wontumi planned to honor this invitation on Monday. The sudden visit from NIB agents surprised him.
Wontumi believes these actions are politically motivated. He thinks they are linked to his ambition to become national chairman of the party. “They want to make my life miserable,” he stated. He emphasized that he has never held a government position.
Despite feeling intimidated and harassed, Wontumi remains determined. He draws inspiration from historical figures like Nelson Mandela and Kwame Nkrumah. “Regardless of the torment, I’ll still become National Chairman,” he confidently declared.
