Godfred Yeboah Dame, the former Attorney General, has responded to Thaddeus Sory. Sory, a private lawyer, called him an "incongruous crybaby." He advised Dame to stop being silly and throwing tantrums.
Dame stated that when he coughs, the NDC catches a cold. He accused Sory of launching public attacks against him regarding his work.
Dame expressed that Sory's obsession with him is bewildering and needs healing. He believes recent events threaten Ghana’s judiciary independence and aims to protect it.
He accused Sory and the NDC of trying to create a false narrative. In his response, Dame rejected Sory’s allegations as vile propaganda from NDC-affiliated lawyers.
Dame addressed accusations of partisanship in representing Chief Justice Torkornoo. He emphasized that representing clients is part of both their duties.
He pointed out that Sory has represented both NDC and NPP figures in the past. Dame noted that if one does not find it strange for these lawyers to team up against the Chief Justice, he cannot fault them.
In his lengthy reply, Dame criticized Sory's comments about his legal record. He clarified that he has publicly acknowledged losses during his tenure as Attorney-General.
Dame mentioned significant cases where he experienced losses but highlighted judicial independence in Ghana. He cited examples from Supreme Court decisions supporting this view.
He reminded Sory of their past legal battles where he won decisively against him. Dame urged Sory not to boast about his legal skills or tarnish others' reputations.
As Deputy Attorney-General, Dame handled many challenging cases successfully against the NDC's interests. He also defended Ghana’s interests in international arbitration cases without foreign counsel.
Dame claimed success in all international arbitrations during his tenure as Attorney-General. He emphasized the strength of Ghana’s judicial system amid recent threats.
He acknowledged knowing about Sory's representation of NPP clients but pointed out Tsikata's role for President Mahama in 2020 elections.
Dame reiterated that both have a duty to represent their clients fairly and responsibly. This will be his only response to Sory; he plans to ignore future provocations.
In closing, he remarked humorously that when he coughs, the whole NDC catches a cold again.
