Osman Ayariga is the Acting CEO of the National Youth Authority. He questioned former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia about his recent apology. Ayariga asked where Bawumia's remorse was when Ghana's economy was struggling.
Ayariga called Bawumia's apology dishonest and theatrical. He spoke on GHONE TV, stating that Bawumia should apologize for failing to manage the currency. He also mentioned Ato Forson’s achievements in just a few months.
"Bawumia’s apology is very dishonest," Ayariga said. He accused Bawumia of trying to deceive Ghanaians and the NPP. "Where was this remorse when the economy was sinking?" he asked.
Ayariga believes Ghanaians are aware of this staged humility. He argued that it shows desperation, not transformation. If Bawumia were truly sorry, he would congratulate Ato Forson and John Mahama.
These comments followed Bawumia's recent apology to Ghanaians for the NPP-led administration's shortcomings. During an event in London, he acknowledged both successes and mistakes made by the party.
Bawumia stated, “The NPP did a lot of work, but we did not get everything right.” He apologized on behalf of himself and the party for their failures. He expressed hope that they would learn from their mistakes if given another chance.
