The Ghana Journalists Association (GJA) has condemned a senior official of the New Patriotic Party (NPP).
This condemnation follows comments made by Alhaji Osman Masawudu, the party’s Third National Vice Chairman. He made these remarks during a radio interview on Ashh FM in Kumasi and at a party press conference.
The GJA described Masawudu's actions as reckless and repressive. They stated that his behavior threatens human life, the rule of law, and democracy.
“We condemn them in no uncertain terms,” said the GJA. They called for Masawudu to withdraw his comments and apologize.
The association urged the Ghana Police Service to take decisive action. They warned against complacency regarding this issue.
“We call on the police to act decisively,” they stated. The police should not wait for worse outcomes before acting. The GJA requested that the IGP invite or arrest Masawudu immediately.
The situation escalated when Masawudu was seen pushing down a microphone belonging to TV3 at an NPP press conference.
