Why NPP’s Boateng Agyemang is threatening revolt over Alan Kyerematen’s return

Tensions are rising within the New Patriotic Party (NPP). Chairman Kwadwo Boateng Agyemang has warned party leaders against readmitting Alan Kyerematen.

Agyemang stated he would resist any attempt to welcome Kyerematen back. He believes this would betray loyal party members.

“I swear I don’t think he would come,” Agyemang said. He added that if the party accepts Kyerematen, they will mobilize to fight against it.

Kyerematen left the NPP to form his own political movement for the 2024 elections. His departure has made him a controversial figure within the party. Many grassroots members see his exit as disloyalty.

“If the party receives Alan back, we will demonstrate,” Agyemang warned. This reflects growing frustration among members who feel betrayed by Kyerematen’s actions.

The Chairman questioned why the party would grant Kyerematen a “second amnesty.” He asked, “What is amnesty? Do we issue it twice?”

Agyemang criticized Kyerematen’s political contributions as well. He noted that Kyerematen was appointed by Akufo-Addo before winning in 2016 but hasn’t performed better than others in the party.

“He is an ingrate,” Agyemang concluded about Kyerematen's loyalty and contributions.
