Tema Development Company Limited (TDC) is facing scrutiny. Managing Director Courage Kafui Nunekpeku has asked the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) to investigate irregularities.
Last week, Nunekpeku expressed his concerns during a staff meeting. He described some operations at TDC as "mind-blowing." This was surprising for him after working in the private sector.
He emphasized the need for accountability in public service. One major issue he found involved the IT department. A one million dollar contract was awarded, but they lack access to necessary software.
Nunekpeku stated, “This morning, I wrote two letters to EOCO.” He highlighted that despite the contract, they still do not have software access.
He also criticized wasteful spending at TDC. For example, there was a proposal to buy a washing machine for GH¢15,000 and detergent for GH¢1,000 just to clean curtains. He questioned why they couldn't handle this internally instead.
Nunekpeku made it clear that anyone involved in wrongdoing will be held accountable. He warned that if someone does not come forward and is later discovered, he will not accept excuses based on their position or years of service.
