The Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has declared former Finance Minister Ken Ofori-Atta a fugitive.
However, questions arise as to why this did not happen under former President Akufo-Addo.
The OSP, created in 2018 to fight corruption, was widely seen as facing political interference during Akufo-Addo’s tenure. Critics argue that despite multiple allegations, the OSP lacked full independence to act decisively.
Under President Mahama, the OSP appears to be exercising greater autonomy, leading to fresh investigations.
Ofori-Atta, now wanted for corruption-related probes, claims ill health while reportedly staying abroad. His case raises concerns about selective justice and whether past administrations shielded political allies.
The unfolding situation will test the OSP’s credibility and commitment to impartiality.
Meanwhile, President Mahama has not commented on the OSP since assuming office.
