Why did you have to run away? – Ken Agyapong asks after arresting hit-and-run truck driver

A video has emerged showing Kennedy Agyapong, a former New Patriotic Party flagbearer hopeful, arresting a truck driver. The driver allegedly hit and killed a motorcyclist while trying to flee.

Reports indicate that Agyapong chased the hit-and-run driver after the incident. He and his team were returning from Cape Coast when they found the accident scene. A motorcyclist lay dead on the road, with his bike burning nearby.

In the video, Agyapong questions the truck driver about fleeing. He asks, “Why did you have to run away? If you made a mistake, why run?” The driver claimed he was unaware of causing an accident.

Witnesses at the scene stated that the truck driver caused the crash by overtaking incorrectly. Agyapong later escorted the driver to the police station for further action.

Reactions from Ghanaians varied online. One user urged @GhPoliceService to impose hard labor for 20 years before serving a longer sentence. Another commented on reckless driving among bikers and traffic law violations.

One more user expressed frustration about how motorcyclists are treated in society. They noted that some people value their pets more than human lives, especially those who deliver goods or services.
