Why haven’t you charged Ofori-Atta if you have evidence? – Kwabena Agyepong quizzes OSP

Kwabena Agyei Agyepong, a former General Secretary of the NPP, has questions. He wants to know why Special Prosecutor Kissi Agyebeng hasn't charged Ken Ofori-Atta if he has evidence.

Agyepong pointed out that the Office of the Special Prosecutor (OSP) has not announced any charges against Ofori-Atta. He accused the OSP of conducting a public trial in the media.

In a statement on June 3, 2025, Agyepong asked, “What is wrong with this OSP? Is it holding a media trial?” He noted that no charges have been filed against Ofori-Atta yet. Therefore, he is not an accused person, even if considered a person of interest.

He questioned why the OSP hasn’t charged Ken if they have evidence. “People have been tried in absentia before,” he said. “Does he need Ken's presence to do his job?”

Agyepong criticized the prosecutor for not focusing on proving his case in court. He mentioned that when Agyebeng claimed his life was threatened, he worked abroad at public expense. If he could work outside Ghana, he could reach Ken too.

“This seems like a PR stunt,” Agyepong stated. He believes it justifies an office that should not exist and wastes taxpayer money.

He urged Ken’s legal team to challenge the OSP's demands for incriminating evidence. “The OSP is not a judge and should stick to its mandate,” he added.

As a patriot, Agyepong wants those who misbehaved in government to face justice. However, he insists this must be done lawfully and not through aggressive tactics during investigations.

“We will not tolerate actions that harm our party’s reputation for political gain,” he concluded.
