Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, Ranking Member on Parliament’s Foreign Affairs Committee, has criticized the outgoing government's plan to grant $350 million in tax waivers to 46 selected companies.
He described the move as fiscally irresponsible and accused the government of prioritizing its cronies over the welfare of Ghanaians.
In an interview with Joy FM on December 16, Ablakwa questioned the rationale behind saddling the incoming administration with this fiscal burden, emphasizing the lack of transparency in the selection process.
He also pointed out the contradiction in President Akufo-Addo's stance on tax waivers and called for redirecting funds toward social interventions and infrastructure development.
Ablakwa urged Parliament to reject the proposal.
