Former New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer aspirant, Ing. Kwabena Agyepong, is urging party leaders to select a new presidential candidate quickly.
He believes this should happen by December 2025. This timeline would allow enough time for preparation before the 2028 general elections.
Agyepong shared his views during an interview with Umaru Sanda Amadu on Channel One TV’s Face to Face.
His comments come as the party is regrouping after its recent election loss.
For Agyepong, selecting a candidate early is crucial for stability and unity. He emphasized the need to strengthen the party from the grassroots level.
“We need to build what I’m calling constituency caucuses,” he said. He noted that current executives still have mandates in place.
By laying this groundwork and choosing a candidate early, Agyepong believes the NPP can unite its members.
“Once we elect a flagbearer, all members must support the candidate,” he stressed.
