Elon Musk is increasing political tensions, targeting U.S. President Donald Trump. In a series of posts on X (formerly Twitter), Musk claimed credit for Trump’s 2024 election victory. This sparked a heated exchange between the two.
“Without me, Trump would have lost the election,” Musk stated. He argued that Democrats would control the House and Republicans would be 51-49 in the Senate without his influence. Now, he wants recognition for his role.
What triggered this outburst? It centers around Trump’s “One Big Beautiful Bill.” This tax and spending package outraged Musk, who called it a “disgusting abomination.” He is particularly upset about cuts to electric vehicle incentives while fossil fuel subsidies remain intact.
“That bill is a complete sellout,” Musk said angrily. “It punishes innovation while feeding the old guard.”
Trump responded by dismissing Musk's claims. He suggested he would have won key states like Pennsylvania regardless of Musk's support. Trump even threatened to revoke federal contracts from Tesla and SpaceX.
According to Trump, Musk suffers from “Trump Derangement Syndrome.” The conflict escalated when Musk demanded Trump's impeachment. He accused the President of withholding sensitive information about Jeffrey Epstein.
“He knows what’s in those files,” Musk hinted but provided no evidence.
Now, Musk is considering forming his own centrist political party. He claims it would represent “the 80% in the middle.”
