Wontumi Case: Bail setbacks expected to be resolved today – Lawyer

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, is known as Chairman Wontumi. He may be released today, June 2, 2025. His legal team is working to resolve issues delaying his bail.

Wontumi's lawyer, Andy Appiah-Kubi, is optimistic about the situation. He believes they can address outstanding issues soon. Wontumi has been in EOCO custody for five days.

He is under investigation for alleged financial crimes. These include fraud, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state. Wontumi was granted GHC50 million bail on May 28.

However, delays in meeting bail terms have stalled his release. Although he met the conditions by May 30, he remains in custody.

Andy Appiah-Kubi stated that efforts are being made to resolve these legal issues. He hopes to have a fresh start on Monday for Wontumi’s release.

Vice President Bawumia has also expressed commitment to ensuring Wontumi's release.
