Wontumi granted GH¢50m bail by EOCO

Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi, is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP). He has been granted bail of GH¢50 million. This bail requires two sureties, both of whom must be justified.

Wontumi was arrested by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO) on May 27. He went to the Criminal Investigation Department (CID) for questioning. After that, he was held at EOCO's head office in Accra.

His lawyer, Andy Appiah Kubi, confirmed the investigation. Wontumi is being investigated for allegedly causing financial loss to the state.

The bail allows him to be released temporarily during ongoing investigations.

Wontumi reportedly spent several hours being interrogated before receiving bail. He is said to have fallen ill during this process.
