Wontumi is not on hunger strike, I had supper with him 2 days ago - Lawyer clarifies

The lawyer for Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, denies hunger strike claims.

Chairman Wontumi, also known as Chairman Wontumi, is in EOCO custody. His lawyer, Andy Appiah-Kubi, says he is receiving medical care at a clinic.

On JoyNews The Pulse, Appiah-Kubi confirmed that Wontumi has not been well. However, he rejected claims that Wontumi is refusing food.

These comments follow allegations from Frank Annoh-Dompreh. He claimed that Wontumi was on a hunger strike to protest his detention conditions.

Mr. Dompreh described the situation as “shocking.” He noted a lack of official communication about Wontumi's welfare.

Appiah-Kubi stated he had not heard any such information. He mentioned sharing a meal with Wontumi just two days ago.

“I had dinner with him two nights ago,” the lawyer said. He plans to visit him again at EOCO soon.

Chairman Wontumi faces investigations for fraud and money laundering. His bail is set at GH¢50 million with two sureties required.

So far, his legal team has secured only one surety. This leaves him unable to meet the bail conditions for release.
