Wontumi visits Bawumia following release from EOCO custody

The Ashanti Regional Chairman of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Bernard Antwi Boasiako, is known as Chairman Wontumi.

He visited former Vice President Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia after his release from custody.

Wontumi was arrested on May 27, 2025, by the Economic and Organised Crime Office (EOCO).

He faced allegations of fraud, money laundering, and causing financial loss to the state.

Wontumi was released on June 2, 2025, after paying a GHS50 bail with two sureties.

After his release, he stopped at the NPP headquarters in Accra on June 3.

Party executives and supporters warmly welcomed him there.

Later that day, he visited Dr. Bawumia.
