Wontumi will be very sad that you abandoned him at EOCO – Isaac Adongo ‘cooks’ NPP minority

Bolgatanga Central MP Isaac Adongo criticized the NPP Minority in Parliament. He called their actions a dramatic U-turn.

Adongo mentioned that Chairman Wontumi and Ghanaians expected the minority to support him. Instead, he said they are arguing about more holidays in Parliament.

He expressed that Wontumi would be sad to see them there. Adongo stated, “You abandoned him to sleep at EOCO.” He added that they promised to boycott Parliament but returned to argue instead.

His comments followed the minority's walkout over Wontumi’s bail conditions. They had vowed to boycott all proceedings until these conditions changed.

The minority staged a sit-in outside EOCO headquarters on May 29. They demanded the release of Chairman Wontumi, who is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP.

On May 30, 2025, members of the Minority Caucus returned to Parliament after their protest. This surprised many since they had announced a boycott earlier.

Adongo remarked that it was unexpected for them to return while Wontumi remained detained.
