Bernard Antwi Boasiko, known as Chairman Wontumi, has withdrawn his motion. He is the Ashanti Regional Chairman of the NPP.
The motion sought a review of his bail conditions. It was filed at the High Court in Accra on May 30, 2025. The hearing was scheduled for June 3.
However, his legal team withdrew the application on June 2. They acted before the scheduled hearing took place.
Chairman Wontumi had challenged a GH¢50 million bail set by EOCO. His lawyers argued that this amount was excessive and hindered his release.
The application requested the court to revise the bail terms. It included grounds outlined in an accompanying affidavit.
Gary Nimako, a private legal practitioner, filed the withdrawal on behalf of Wontumi.
Lead counsel Andy Appiah-Kubi confirmed that all documentation for two sureties is complete.
He noted that this progress made the court application unnecessary. Former Minister Bryan Acheampong provided considerable assistance in this matter.
