The Public Services Workers Union (PSWU) has rejected claims by NDPC Chairman Dr. Nii Moi Thompson that television sets in government offices symbolize a lack of seriousness.
Dr. Thompson, in a Citi Breakfast Show interview, called for their removal, arguing they distract staff and hinder productivity.
However, the PSWU dismissed his remarks as an unfair generalization. Deputy General Secretary John Sampa clarified that TVs are mainly placed in reception areas for visitor convenience or used in public relations offices for news monitoring.
He also pointed out that private institutions have TVs without compromising efficiency.
The union expressed concern over the repeated portrayal of public servants as unproductive, emphasizing that any misuse of TVs would be addressed by management if necessary.
