Workers of GHA threaten another strike over unaddressed demands

The Senior Staff Association of the Ghana Highway Authority (GHA) has announced an indefinite nationwide strike starting December 2, 2024.

This follows the government's failure to address their grievances regarding the National Roads Authority Act 2024 (Act 1118) and related concerns.

In a letter signed by Emmanuel Asina, the association’s National Vice Chairman, and addressed to the National Labour Commission, workers cited the strike as a last resort after several failed attempts at resolution.

Their demands include halting the Act's implementation, revoking appointments deemed unconstitutional, conducting fresh consultations, and removing top GHA leadership.

The workers have given a November 29 deadline for their demands to be met, warning that the strike will proceed indefinitely if ignored.
