The funeral of Pope Francis is happening in the Vatican. He died on Easter Monday, April 21, at age 88.

About 140,000 people have gathered for the service. This includes 40,000 in St Peter's Square, which is nearly full.

Many leaders and dignitaries are attending the funeral. Notable attendees include Donald Trump, Volodymyr Zelensky, and Prince William. They joined the mourners in St Peter's Square.

Before the service began, Trump and Prince William paid their respects to Pope Francis' coffin inside the basilica. Trump and Zelensky also met before the funeral to discuss ongoing negotiations regarding Ukraine.

This event unites powerful figures with marginalized communities. The funeral mass features a reading from the Acts of the Apostles by Kielce Gussie from Vatican News. There will also be a second reading from Saint Paul's Letter to the Philippians and a responsorial Psalm in between.
