On World Menstrual Hygiene Day 2025, Groomdatgirl partnered with the Terry Yegbe Foundation. They organized an outreach at Horti EP Primary School. The global theme was “Together for a Period-Friendly World.”
The initiative aimed to raise awareness about menstrual hygiene. It brought together pupils, educators, local leaders, and health professionals. The goal was to promote inclusivity and reduce stigma around menstruation.
Promoting Confidence and Hygiene Through Education
Delphine Gomado, a Physician Assistant from Horti, led the main health session. She engaged students in an interactive discussion on personal hygiene.
Gomado demonstrated how to use and dispose of sanitary pads safely. This sparked curiosity and participation among female students.
Her session encouraged open dialogue. Pupils felt safe asking questions and sharing experiences about menstrual health.
Creating Supportive School Environments
Headteacher Mr. Kplorm Dorvlo welcomed everyone warmly. He praised the organizers for their important initiative.
He urged male students to support their female classmates during menstruation. Empathy and understanding are vital for a compassionate learning environment.
Hometown Pride and Purposeful Giving Back
Miss Tilda Elinam Acorlor led the Groomdatgirl team. She is proud of her hometown, Horti.
As a respected sports broadcaster, she celebrated the school’s recent gold medal win in tennis at the Inter-District School Festival in Hohoe.
“Menstruation is a natural part of life,” she told the girls. “We must learn to manage it with pride.”
Community Engagement and Lifelong Impact
Mr. Eric Ahiabu represented the Terry Yegbe Foundation at the event. He spoke about founder Terry Yegbe's vision for empowering youth through education.
Ahiabu hopes both boys and girls will benefit from this knowledge. He believes it will help create a more informed society.
The event also included participation from community elders and the Gender Officer of Akatsi South District Education Directorate. They praised the initiative and called for similar programs in other schools.
Creative Expression and Community Support
The day concluded with students showcasing creativity through performances and poetry on menstrual health.
Participants received sanitary pads and refreshments, emphasizing accessibility to menstrual products for all.
This impactful event was supported by The Freeemo Foundation, Dr. Harrison Kofi Berlley, and businessman Mr. Francis Aba.
The celebration at Horti EP Primary marked progress in promoting menstrual health education while reducing period stigma for a healthier future.
