Worsening Tamale water crisis: Bupiala residents scoop water from dried dam  …to quench thirst

Residents of Bupiala are facing a severe water shortage. This crisis has affected the Tamale Metropolis for some time. The Bupiala Dam, a key water source, has dried up.

The dam went dry due to a long dry spell. Unprecedented heat in northern Ghana worsened the situation. As a result, residents now travel long distances to find water.

Women and children are seen fetching water from various sources. Some collect it from wells or dugouts. Others share limited supplies with family members.

In recent times, the Tamale Metropolis has struggled with water supply issues. Ghana Water Limited (GWL) cannot meet the needs of the growing population. This ongoing problem continues to impact daily life in the area.
