A viral video shows Malik Basintale, the newly appointed Acting CEO of the Youth Employment Agency (YEA), arriving at his office accompanied by an armed private bodyguard.
Basintale, a key figure in last year’s election campaign, was seen stepping out of his V8 with his muscular escort, locally called a “macho.”
The bodyguard, whose identity remains unknown, was carrying the CEO’s bag, and a gun was visibly strapped to him.
The footage has sparked mixed reactions online, with some questioning the security detail while others see it as a routine measure.
Basintale exchanged greetings with agency staff before settling into his office.
His appointment by President John Mahama last month has placed him in the spotlight.
