The Youth Employment Agency (YEA) has teamed up with the Ghana Police Service. They aim to recruit 12,000 young people as Community Police Assistants. This initiative targets youth unemployment and aims to improve public safety.
The agreement was signed at the Ministry of the Interior. The Minister for the Interior and the Minister for Youth Development were present.
This program offers young Ghanaians more than just a paycheck. It provides a chance to serve their communities and build careers in public service. YEA officials highlighted that this is part of a larger strategy to create sustainable job opportunities.
A YEA spokesperson stated, “This partnership shows our commitment to tackling youth unemployment.” They added it allows young people to help ensure safer neighborhoods.
Once recruited, Community Police Assistants will aid the Ghana Police Service. They will help maintain law and order at the grassroots level. This effort aims to strengthen ties between police and local communities.
