Doctors at Tamale Teaching Hospital (TTH) have resumed emergency services. This follows a plea from Yaa Naa Abukari Mahama II, the Overlord of Dagbon.
The doctors had been on strike, causing distress for many patients. A delegation from the Dagbon Palace visited TTH to address the situation. The group was led by Zangbalun Lana Dr. Jacob Mahama.
During their visit, they urged the Doctors’ Association of Tamale Teaching Hospital (DATTH) to reconsider their strike. They emphasized the importance of public health and patient lives.
Zangbalun Lana said, “The cessation of emergency services has far-reaching consequences.” He expressed concern for those who cannot afford to wait for care.
He also assured doctors that Yaa Naa is committed to addressing their concerns quickly.
Shortly after this meeting, TTH announced that emergency services were restored. Their official Facebook page stated, “The intervention of the King successfully got the doctors to resume emergency services.”
