Kofi Asare, Executive Director of Africa Education Watch, has shared concerns about the government's approach to illegal mining.
He believes the previous government did not effectively fight against galamsey.
Asare warns that using past actions as a benchmark will lead to failure.
In a social media post, he stated, “If Murtala uses the past gov’t as a standard to measure success in the Galamsay fight, this gov’t will fail abysmally before Ghanaians. This is b’cos there was no fight. If you promised a repeal, just REPEAL. #StopGalamsayNow.”
His comments follow public calls for the President to remove the Legislative Instrument (LI) that permits mining in forest reserves.
