You can’t silence him – NPP links Kumi’s arrest to presidential petition

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is very concerned about the arrest of Ababio Kumi. Kumi, also known as Adenta Kumi, is a party member and former parliamentary candidate.

Justin Frimpong Kodua, the party's General Secretary, spoke to Citi Prime News. He claimed that the National Intelligence Bureau (NIB) violated Kumi’s human rights during his arrest.

Kodua believes the arrest is linked to Kumi’s recent petition to the President. He noted that Kumi filed this petition earlier this week and has not received acknowledgment.

The NPP suspects that the timing of the arrest is not coincidental. They argue it follows closely after Kumi's formal petition to the President.

Kodua emphasized that regardless of any reasons for the arrest, Kumi has fundamental human rights. He defended Kumi's right to due process in this situation.

The NPP criticized how the arrest was carried out. They argued it did not meet legal or ethical standards expected from law enforcement agencies.

Kodua stated, “His human rights have been abused.” He insisted that due process must be followed in such cases.

The NPP has called for transparency and accountability in this matter. They believe no Ghanaian should face such treatment, regardless of political affiliation.
