Henry Osei Akoto, a former parliamentary candidate for Oforikrom, criticized NPP members.
He claimed that those who commit crimes are now saying democracy is threatened.
In a post on X, he wrote, “You commit crimes with impunity. When arrested, you claim democracy is under threat. It’s your brain that is under threat.”
His comments followed the arrest of Chairman Wontumi by EOCO.
Wontumi was intercepted after leaving the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) in Accra on May 27.
EOCO has not released an official statement about his arrest.
Details of the investigation remain unclear. However, Wontumi's lawyer, Andy Appiah Kubi, said Wontumi fell ill during questioning.
Kubi did not disclose where Wontumi was receiving treatment. He stated, “I know where he is but I am not going to disclose the hospital.”
He added that they have not finished interrogating Wontumi yet. They plan to continue if his health improves.
Otherwise, he will remain in care until doctors discharge him.
