Moses Abor, the Greater Accra Regional Youth Organizer of the NPP, criticized security agencies. He condemned their alleged attempt to arrest Rev John Ntim Fordjour, the MP for Assin South. He called this action humiliating and disrespectful.
Abor spoke at Rev Fordjour's residence in Spintex, Accra. Many NPP supporters gathered there in solidarity. He expressed shock over how the situation was handled.
“You just came around and snatched a whole Member of Parliament?” he asked. “What kind of life is that?”
He acknowledged that no one is above the law. However, he emphasized proper procedures for engaging a sitting MP. This is especially true for someone who has been a Deputy Minister.
“We ruled Ghana for eight years,” he said. “Is it right to intimidate people like this?”
He insisted that if there are issues with an MP, they should be addressed respectfully. “You don’t bring people to disgrace him like this,” he added.
Abor noted reports of an invitation extended to Rev Fordjour. Even if true, it should have been done transparently and respectfully.
“If they want him, invite him properly,” he urged. “Don’t do rambo-style operations as if we’re in some jungle.”
He reminded authorities that MPs represent the people and deserve respect. “This is a former Deputy Minister,” he stated. “He deserves dignity.”
Abor also pointed out that even youth organizers deserve respectful treatment when approached by authorities.
He urged party supporters to remain calm but vigilant. Such actions could create unnecessary tension in politics.
“Ghana is not a jungle,” he warned. “We can change power quickly.”
He called for respect for democracy as they move forward together.
