You have blocked me, so what? – Appiah-Kubi fires back at Gary Nimako

Andy Appiah-Kubi is the lawyer for NPP’s Ashanti Regional Chairman, Bernard Antwi Boasiako, known as Chairman Wontumi. He has responded to Gary Nimako, the NPP Director of Legal Affairs.

Gary Nimako claimed he blocked Andy Appiah-Kubi on his phone. He spoke on Asempa FM about their conversation before filing a legal application. Nimako said it was unfair for Appiah-Kubi to claim the process was frustrated.

Nimako stated, “How do you throw this in the air? It is not right and fair.” He added that he had spoken to Appiah-Kubi before filing. However, he later claimed he was unaware of certain developments.

Nimako explained why he blocked Appiah-Kubi's number. He said, “If I can have a meeting with you in confidence and you act this way in public, then I cannot talk to you again.”

Appiah-Kubi recently criticized Nimako regarding Wontumi’s detention. On May 30, Wontumi’s legal team revealed they met bail conditions but faced delays due to a new legal application.

Appiah-Kubi explained that his client would not go home that night. He mentioned encountering challenges that needed addressing first. An unknown application had been filed against them.

He noted they would deal with it on Monday and work towards a solution. In response to Nimako's comments on Adom FM, Appiah-Kubi said he does not need Nimako's chats or calls.

He remarked, “If he has blocked me, so what?” He emphasized his seniority over Nimako and advised him to seek wisdom and understanding.

Appiah-Kubi also challenged Nimako regarding their academic qualifications. He stated he could publicly share his results while questioning if Nimako could do the same.

As of June 2, 2025, Chairman Wontumi has been released from EOCO custody after meeting bail conditions. The dispute between the two lawyers continues despite this development.
