You imposed 30 taxes now waxing lyrical about dumsor levy – Kwakye Ofosu slams Bawumia

Felix Kwakye Ofosu, the Minister for Government Communications, criticized Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia. He condemned the newly introduced Dumsor Levy.

Kwakye Ofosu accused Dr. Bawumia and the NPP of imposing 30 taxes on Ghanaians. He called Bawumia's comments hypocritical and politically motivated.

On JOY NEWS Newsfile, Kwakye Ofosu said, “I have heard Bawumia praising this tax.” He added that if only the E-levy had been imposed, Ghanaians would not have protested.

Dr. Bawumia attacked the John Mahama-led NDC government for introducing a Dumsor Levy. He claimed it is eight times higher than the e-levy.

Bawumia explained that sending 1,000 cedis via mobile money incurs a 10 cedi fee. In contrast, buying 1,000 cedis worth of fuel now incurs an 83 cedi tax.

During his NPP Thank You Tour, he stated that the NDC lied about scrapping the e-levy. Instead of removing it, they introduced a much higher Dumsor Levy.

He emphasized that buying one liter of petrol costs an additional 1 cedi in taxes. For every 1,000 cedis spent on fuel, consumers now pay an extra 83 cedis in new taxes.

Bawumia warned that more taxes are coming in the future. By 2028, he believes Ghanaians will see how many lies were told by the NDC.
