Vice President Professor Naana Jane Opoku-Agyemang has expressed deep gratitude to her supporters. She specifically thanked businessman Ibrahim Mahama for being “a healing presence” during her medical leave.
On Thursday, May 22, 2025, she spoke publicly for the first time since returning to Ghana. Prof Opoku-Agyemang described her experience as “deeply trying and humbling.” She credited God, her medical team, President John Mahama, and key supporters for her recovery.
"I don’t have much to say. Thanks be to God," she said emotionally. "His mercies have been infinite, and I'm very grateful."
She praised President Mahama's swift intervention during her health crisis. “To my boss that day, I don't know where you appeared from,” she recalled. His timely involvement was critical in addressing her needs.
Her tribute to Ibrahim Mahama drew particular attention. Referring to him as her “little boss,” she shared how his support impacted her recovery.
"Your brother stopped at nothing to ensure I had what I needed," she said. "He came to the hospital and sat by me; that was healing by itself."
Prof Opoku-Agyemang also thanked the medical professionals who cared for her. She noted their competence and compassion were vital in handling her case. Their quick decision-making helped prevent further complications.
"I’m grateful to the doctors," she stated. "Their swift action made all the difference." She expressed sincere appreciation for the public's messages, prayers, and well-wishes during her absence.
"I'm very happy to be back," she added. "There’s so much we need to do together." Her return signals political stability as Ghana approaches the 2024 elections.
Many view her comeback as a symbol of resilience in leadership during this pivotal time.
