Maurice Ampaw is a private lawyer and radio host on Wontumi TV. He stated that if he becomes the EOCO boss, suspects will need special bail conditions. He jokingly mentioned needing Jesus Christ and Angel Michael for bail.
Ampaw spoke about traditional rulers in Ghana. He said they should remain quiet if power changes hands. He expressed concerns about how they might react.
He commented on Chairman Wontumi's recent arrest by EOCO. Wontumi visited the Criminal Investigations Department (CID) headquarters on May 27. He was granted bail of GH₵50 million with two sureties on May 28.
However, his legal team struggled to meet all bail conditions initially. On May 30, they filed a motion at the High Court in Accra. The hearing was scheduled for June 3, but they withdrew the application on June 2.
Wontumi’s legal team faced challenges despite meeting some bail conditions. They encountered a new legal application that delayed his release. Appiah-Kubi explained that this application was unexpected and hindered progress.
Fortunately, Chairman Wontumi was released from EOCO custody after meeting his bail conditions on June 2, 2025.
