Akosua Manu is the New Patriotic Party’s candidate for Adentan in 2024. She criticized President John Dramani Mahama’s administration. She called the dumsor levy “draconian and farcical.”
On Channel One TV, she spoke about the NDC's energy sector management. She accused them of hypocrisy and a lack of transparency.
Madam Manu condemned how the dumsor levy was introduced. She claimed it lacked proper consultation with Ghanaians. The levy was forced on people without adequate engagement.
“It was introduced in darkness, quite literally and figuratively,” she stated. Ghanaians woke up to a tax that had no public debate or explanation.
She also recalled the NDC's strong opposition to the E-levy under Akufo-Addo’s government. She described their previous stance as disingenuous.
“It is political inconsistency for a party that opposed the E-levy to defend this levy,” she said. “Where was the stakeholder engagement then?”
Madam Manu called for honest discussions about energy financing. She emphasized fairness and consistency in political discourse.
