Your funds are safe and secure – MTN to MoMo customers

MTN Ghana has assured its Mobile Money (MoMo) customers that their funds are safe. This reassurance comes after a cybersecurity incident affected the wider MTN Group.

In a notice, MTN clarified that no mobile money wallets have been compromised. They urged the public to ignore any claims suggesting otherwise.

MTN Group confirmed it experienced a cybersecurity incident recently. Investigations are still in the early stages. Preliminary assessments indicate that data for about 5,700 MTN Ghana customers may be affected.

The company has not determined the full extent of the breach yet. In response, MTN Group hired top cybersecurity experts for a forensic investigation. This evaluation follows established security protocols to protect customer information.

MTN Ghana advises customers to stay vigilant. They should avoid sharing personal security credentials like PINs or OTPs. Customers should also refrain from clicking on suspicious links or answering unsolicited calls.
