Your rights end where another person’s begins – Ahmed Ibrahim Warns

Ahmed Ibrahim stressed the need for a structured, non-partisan approach to chieftaincy disputes. He believes these matters should not be politicized.

Speaking on Starr FM, he announced plans for a new committee. This committee will address chieftaincy issues beyond current judicial committees.

“It must be non-partisan because chieftaincy issues should not be politicized,” he stated.

Ibrahim emphasized enforcing established lines of succession. This ensures a smooth leadership transition when a chief passes away.

“We must have a clear process to determine the next chief,” he added.

He also highlighted the balance between democracy and traditional authority. Excessive individual freedoms can disrupt community order, he warned.

“Democracy gives us rights, but excessive liberty can be a problem,” he remarked. “Your rights end where another person’s begins.”
