Minister of Youth Development and Empowerment, George Opare Addo, has assured Ghanaians that the betting tax will be abolished in the 2025 budget.
He reaffirmed the National Democratic Congress (NDC) government's commitment to fulfilling its campaign promises, with Finance Minister Dr. Cassiel Ato Forson working to eliminate nuisance taxes.
Opare Addo stated that when the budget is read in March 2025, the government will implement tax cancellations, including the betting tax, to ease financial burdens on citizens. He encouraged young people to anticipate this change.
The finance ministry is also engaging with the International Monetary Fund (IMF) to finalize these tax removals as part of broader economic reforms.
