American Visa Lottery Results for Ghanaians Released; US Embassy Warns Against Scams

The US Embassy in Ghana has announced the Diversity Visa selections. This is also known as the American Visa Lottery.

Applicants can check their application status via a special link provided by the embassy. The lottery registration was open from October 4 to November 7, 2023.

The embassy warned applicants to be cautious of scams. They stated, "If you receive an e-mail, text, call, or letter notification, these are scams."

The US Department of State has opened the 2025 Diversity Visa Programme for registration during the same period. Winners will receive permanent residency in the US, commonly known as a green card.

More than 50,000 successful applicants will gain permanent residence through this program. However, some reasons may disqualify individuals from applying.

Ineligible countries and misleading information can lead to elimination from the lottery process.

A couple recently celebrated their move to the United States after winning the diversity visa lottery twice. In a TikTok video, they shared their journey and relocation with their children.

They first applied in 2021 and won in 2022.

A Ghanaian lawyer in America highlighted potential downsides of applying for the American Visa lottery. She mentioned four main dangers associated with it.

In a YouTube video, AK Poku advised applicants to understand these disadvantages before applying. She noted that all submitted data will be accessible to the US Department of State after form submission.
