Australian Government Offers GH¢115k and Free Visa to Ghanaian Construction Workers
The Australian government is looking for workers in construction. They are offering benefits of $10,000 (GH¢115k). This amount covers agent fees, visa application fees, and relocation costs.
Ghanaians aged 18 and older can apply for this opportunity. The payment will be made in different stages.
The program is called the Construction Visa Subsidy Program (CVSP). It aims to address labor shortages in Australia’s construction industry. The program offers financial incentives to encourage Ghanaians and other foreign workers to relocate.
According to the immigration website, the support helps employers with skilled migration visa pathways. It offsets expenses like migration agent fees and relocation costs.
The statement mentions that Western Australia needs skilled migrants. They want to ensure locals are trained for future jobs while attracting overseas workers.
Eligible employers can receive up to $10,000 per skilled migrant at three milestones:
- Milestone 1: $2,000 (GH¢23k)
- Milestone 2: $4,000 (GH¢46k)
- Milestone 3: $4,000 (GH¢46k)
Skilled migrants applying from abroad can get payments at two milestones:
- Milestone 1: $5,000 (GH¢57k)
- Milestone 2: $5,000 (GH¢57k)
Migrants already in Australia when the CVSP starts can receive reduced payments:
- Milestone 1: $2,500 (GH¢28k)
- Milestone 2: $2,500 (GH¢28k)
Not everyone moving to Australia will qualify for these funds. Independent skilled migrants must meet specific criteria:
1. Obtain a visa through the WA State Nominated Migration Program.
2. Be employed by a business based in Western Australia.
3. Work in eligible occupations listed by the program.
