"We remain fully operational" - Railway Authority distances itself from GRCL strike

The Ghana Railway Development Authority (GRDA) has clarified its position.

It is not involved in the ongoing strike by some workers of the Ghana Railway Company Limited (GRCL).

Both agencies operate in the railway sector but have different legal responsibilities.

Dr. Frederick Appoh, the acting Chief Executive Officer, signed the statement.

He assured that GRDA's operations remain unaffected by the strike.

The GRDA stated, "We wish to assure the public that we are fully operational."

They have not initiated or endorsed any public demonstrations on any issue.

The focus is on preparing for the new 97-kilometre Tema-Mpakadan Railway Line.

This project includes two new trains procured by the government.

The GRDA urged the public to understand its role versus that of GRCL.

They emphasized that GRCL's planned strike does not impact GRDA activities.

"Our staff are dedicated to advancing key projects," they added.

The authority thanked the public for their continued support.

They reiterated their commitment to improving railway systems for national development.
