Black Stars forward Brandon Thomas-Asante hopes to keep scoring for Ghana. He registered his first goal on Wednesday evening.
Thomas-Asante scored a consolation goal in a 2-1 loss to Nigeria. This match was part of the semifinals of the 2025 Unity Cup in London.
It was only his third appearance for the national team. He had recently been recalled into the squad.
"Overall, it was a bit frustrating," he said after the game. "This is our biggest game; we know we can win."
He added, "I'm happy to score my first goal for Ghana. I intend to do this for a very long time."
The G-Tech Community Stadium was nearly full, despite being a friendly match. Fans were excited and engaged in the rivalry.
Thomas-Asante enjoyed the atmosphere in West London during the game. "It was amazing; it shows what football is about," he said.
"Even with half supporting us and half against us, it felt great." He expressed a desire for more days like this and said they enjoyed it.
Following their defeat to Nigeria, the Black Stars will now compete for third place. They will face Trinidad and Tobago on Saturday, May 31.
